Soft Launch of Smart Young Home Buyers Initiative Young homebuyers – you hear a lot of that today. It shows how important this group of people is to the government as well as corporates. But what is important to the young homebuyer? For many, it is a roof over their head. With property prices shooting up in the last few years, increasingly large numbers of young people find themselves shut out from the property market due to affordability issues.
Today however, we have a solution. A word of warning though: Those who are here today might find their lives changed forever. How? 50 property experts will share their secrets with you on how to own a home and climb the property ladder – all for free. Yes, even in a challenging environment today, there are still opportunities for young people. These 50 experts have expertise ranging from investment, law, tax, financing, marketing, interior design and even feng shui.
Many of us have written bestseller books on property, and conducted many training programmes, seminars and talks. Buying a property might seem easy – pay the downpayment and get a loan. We are here to tell you it is not so simple. Many have lost money investing in wrong locations or picking the wrong timing to buy, plus a host of other mistakes. You need to come to talks and forums like today’s to hear more about them. Have you heard of the word ‘due diligence’? It used to be a hip word for professionals doing all types of checking to verify information before their clients invest in something big. Similarly, before you buy a property, which for many of us, is the biggest purchase we will ever make in our lifetime, you need to do ‘due diligence’.
How do you do due diligence? This is where having the right knowledge will help you not to lose money. This is where the experts come in. We are doing it for free because of passion and a sense of public service - because we believe we should help to educate young people on the pitfalls when buying a property, or even not to buy at all under certain circumstances. Of course, we would appreciate it if the government or private sector are willing to sponsor the talks, seminars and edutours that we will be conducting nationwide over the next few months. How do you hop onboard? Easy - in order for us to give out 100 free learning opportunities, we would need you to register. If you don’t register, we won’t know who to send the information to.
There are young people with 2 types of characters today when it comes to property: 1. They want to buy property and think buying is either very easy or difficult 2. They don’t think they can buy and blame the government, high prices, low salaries, etc. We want to work with these 2 types of characters to prove that there are opportunities in this market. You just need to know where and when to look. Again, someone with the knowledge and experience can help. Isn’t it better to avoid mistakes by learning with or getting mentored by experts than learning from all the mistakes you make yourself? Plus, sometimes, it takes years to undo just one mistake.
At Swhengtee Expo, young homebuyers are very important to us – that’s why the first programme of our expo, the “Smart Young Homebuyers” Campaign is geared towards young homebuyers. Together with some experts and with the support of Real Estate Malaysia magazine and Asian Property Review magazine, we have initiated this programme. We are still on the lookout for more experts to join us to share their expertise. The talks will be conducted in 3 languages – Malay, English and
Chinese – as we want to be inclusive. No one should be left out due to language barrier or location. That’s why we are even going to small towns and not just big cities or towns to give the talks. You can see the next forum we have arranged is ‘Make No Mistake; I’m a Smart Young Homebuyer’. Buying a property is not just about getting financing - it’s more like studying for a bachelor’s degree. And you need a lot of passion to make it a success, as in many things. That’s the message we want to deliver in our campaign here.
Our first programme is an edutour where the speakers will be selected, invited and despatched to Sabah, Sarawak, Penang, Johor Bahru and other places in Malaysia. To get a chance to participate in the 100 learning opportunities, do register with us today to guarantee your seat. ‘Be a smart homebuyer and make no mistake.’ Finally, we want to thank all the participants and speakers who will kick off the edutour. We hereby announce the soft launch of the ‘Smart Young Home Buyers’ initiative from this moment. We will have a grand launch once we get all the support from our partners and sponsors.
